The Palaad Tawanron Restaurant, Chiang Mai is located in the foothills of the Suthep Mountain just at the back of the Chiang Mai Zoo. The restaurant boasts of the very best delicacies from the stunning view of the surroundings. The Palaad Tawanron restaurant in Chiang Mai is also regarded as a restaurant with the most romantic ambiance. This is yet another reason that Palaad Tawanron has gained immense reputation as a renowned dining place in Chiang Mai.
The most popular dishes are, Kah Moo Tawanron : Deep fried pork leg with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut, Tohm Yum Goong Mapraow-On : Creamy and spicy soup of fresh water shrimp with young coconut, Pla Krapong Tawd Naam Pla : Fried sea bass in fish sauce, Pla Muek Neung Manow : Steamed squid with chilli and lime juice, and Galum-plee Tawd Naam Pla : Sauteed cabbage in fish sauce.
The fare is Thai and very good it is too. The menu is extensive and almost exhausting, with over 300 items, however there are some fine examples of how varied modern day Thai cuisine has evolved. Specialties include over 20 different Tom Yum soups at around 200 THB, ostrich meat with chili and herbs at 250 THB and fresh raw prawns marinated in chili and fish sauce at 150 THB. The list is endless with favourites of roast duck variations at 150 THB, somtams at 90 THB and seafood hotpots at 250 THB. A large singha is reasonably priced at 130THB.
Banjo Man group plays every evening singing in English, Thai and Japanese. On most nights two clowns, in colorful costumes, construct fascinating balloon art that guests of all ages and nationalities really love.
